The year is 1890 and in a small family owned blacksmith shop Joseph Opinel turned 18. By the glow of the forge he showed his father a simple pocket knife he dreamed up for mass production. Despite his father’s dislike of machine crafted tools Joseph was convinced he could make a high quality knife that everyone could afford. Thus the Opinel knife was born and soon grew into a national icon. The Opinel No. 08 Mushroom Knife, continues the tradition of well made knives; created specifically to assist in the cutting and preparation of mushrooms. This tool has a thin, curved blade with a serrated back, for easy removal of the cuticle as well as a genuine boar bristle brush for easy cleaning. Weighing only 1.7 oz. its light in the pocket and in the hand. The blade measures 3”and is made of stainless steal for durability and longevity.
